ABOUT

My name is Elizabeth and I'm a senior at the University of Alabama, Roll Tide. I started this baking blog in my dorm room during the spring semester of my sophomore year (2011). The building I lived in was the only building on campus that had dorm rooms with full kitchens, and I decided to take advantage of it. The oven was old, half-sized, it liked to choose its own temperature, and two of the eyes didn't work, but I was determined. I really began to enjoy baking despite the little oven and I've been baking ever since. Now I live in a tiny off campus apartment with a full sized oven that isn't as old, the temperature isn't as off, and only one eye doesn't work. But I've been able to manage with the appliances that have been provided for me and work with the everyday challenges of being a baker in college.

I'm an English major with a minor in creative writing and I love combining that with my love for cute and adorable treats. I consider myself a writer and I enjoy writing poems, short stories and hope to write novels someday. Also, one of my goals is to write a book of baking-themed poetry.

I've been baking and writing this blog for about a year-and-a-half, but I still consider myself an amateur baker and definitely an amateur photographer. I do a lot of experimenting and baking for fun. I've learned a lot since I started, though, and I've definitely seen an improvement in my baking and blog posts. Hopefully I'll continue down this path and I hope you enjoy reading about it!
