Father's Day Cookie Cake

This Father's Day, I decided I wanted to bake something for my dad and I wanted to do something that I haven't done in a while.  Cookie cake.

And then I immediately knew that I wanted there to be a tie on it and blue icing.

And this is what I came up with!

The Collegiate Baker
I am so happy with how this turned out! The blue turned out much brighter than I expected, but I like it.

Cookie cakes are a little bit harder than regular cakes. Really, it just takes more time and a lot more mixing. I followed the recipe on the back of a bag of chocolate chips. Usually my mom buys Nestle chocolate chips, but this time she bought the Publix brand and I couldn't tell the difference. The recipe is for chocolate chip cookies, but to make a cookie cake, you just put all the cookie dough on a cookie sheet (I used a cooking stone) and spread it out.

It was declicious. It still is delicious. Because, thankfully, we still have some left. This one didn't go to work with my mom. ;D

  1. The lettering and the tie on the cake turned out so well! Good job. I hope all this baking you are doing continues for say another month or so – like when we are at the beach! : )

  2. I have to say the cookie cake looks great and especially the close-up photo, but what I like best is my beautiful daughter in the photo with me. A great Father's Day gift!
